Pesticides Courses
Vermin Control
We offer three vermin control courses: rat and mouse control, mole control and rabbit control.
Each course combines training and assessment, ensuring that trainees have adequate knowledge and understanding to practise pest control.
Assessments will be on a continuous basis and are “work-based”.
The courses are intended to give trainees a full working knowledge of both preventative and curative methods so that they can plan, implement and
monitor a control programme that is appropriate to their situation.
Trainees who pass the assessment are awarded with a certificate of basic training and a skills identity card.
- Rat and Mouse Control
- Mole Control
- Rabbit Control
Pest Control in Grain Stores
This is a course designed for farmers, farm managers and staff involved in the storage and transport of grain. This course includes a visit to a grain
store for practical work, but does not include practical pest control.

Training Leading to Pesticide Certificates of Competence
Legislation requires that people using pesticides must have received adequate instruction, and in certain circumstances must undergo assessment and
acquire a certificate of competence.
These courses are designed to comply with all legislative and code of practice requirements, and specify the knowledge and skills required of a
competent operator.
They prepare trainees for taking the certificate of competence tests administered by the National Proficiency Tests Council (NPTC) and the Scottish
Skills Testing Service (SSTS).
We may be able to arrange the NPTC/SSTS assessment for trainees.
